Nestled against the picturesque backdrop of the Tred Avon River, Katharine and Dan chose a venue that held special significance in their hearts. As they exchanged vows, the gentle ebb and flow of the river mirrored the rhythm of their love, creating a magical ambiance for the beginning of their forever. Katharine and Dan’s wedding was more than a celebration; it was a maritime love story, an ode to the uniqueness of their journey. Every element, from the riverside vows to the custom oyster ornaments, painted a portrait of a couple who dared to make their love story sail into the extraordinary. To top it all off, the bride herself was the planner, and planning her own wedding jump started her journey into becoming our beloved Island Creek Events!

From the planner, and the bride!
In the heart of the Eastern Shore, where their lives had intertwined multiple times before, a love story decades in the making found its perfect chapter. Katharine and Dan first crossed paths in 2005 when Katharine was Dan’s bus girl at Latitude 38 in Oxford, MD. Back then, an age difference separated them. They remained friends, their paths crossing again and again at different stages of life.
It was the summer of 2019, in the heart of Oxford, where fate intervened once more. This time, it wasn’t just friendship; it was love. Little did they know that the same spot where their hearts had ignited would become the sacred ground where they exchanged vows three years later. Their wedding was beautifully set against the backdrop of the Tred Avon Yacht river, where Katharine and Dan worked together as a couple to make this special place even more extraordinary. They opened their hearts to their family, friends, and even their beloved dogs, weaving their love into every aspect of the celebration. Special touches included the custom wedding favor wall built by the bride’s brother that displayed 100 oyster ornaments made with love by the bride and groom. A memory table honoring those that couldn’t be with us, a custom nautical map as a guest book for all to sign, a bourbon and cigar bar, and a dessert table filled with goodies made by the Oxford Auxiliary. With no formal sit down dinner, guests enjoyed passed heavy hors d’oeuvres and food stations of eastern shore classics, and then the dance floor was packed all night. Guests enjoyed some late night snack options from the junior sailing lunch window of soft pretzels and chicken tenders and fries. The couple had a golf cart send off, which led the way to the after party at Capsize.
