Relaxed Vibes for these Ocean-Loving Newlyweds

February 1, 2018

This beach-bound babe and her fisherman hubby couldn’t resist tying the knot with sandy feet and an ocean view. And with a gallery packed full of driftwood accents and seafoam greens, can you even blame them? We love their laid-back style, and we’re totally channeling warmer weather and seaside days ahead.

From Ami of Little Miss Lovely: Mary & Will’s wedding was filled with love, thoughtful details, and sentiment. Every detail of this Ocean City wedding had thought behind it. The small details really made this wedding day spectacular.

Mary, a local high school teacher who grew up along the water, fell in love with Will, a fisherman from North Carolina. Will had been in the Ocean City area fishing and the two were matched through an online dating community. A few messages between the two of them led them to a date at Micky Fins overlooking the Ocean City Fishing Center, the location of which Will’s work boat was docked.

It all started with a crush. Over dinner and an orange crush, Mary and Will felt an immediate connection. It only made sense that a few years later, the two would be celebrating their wedding at that same location as their first date, drinking orange crushes, and dancing on those same docks.

As mentioned before, Will is a fisherman. He is a personality featured on the National Geographic Channel’s reality television show, ‘Wicked Tuna’. His life revolves around the ocean, fishing, and his wife. It was only fitting that his love for fishing and Mary’s love for their family and friends be the main theme throughout their wedding day.

Earlier in the year, Mary lost her mother to a battle with cancer. She will be forever remember fondly as a mother to Mary, Will, Mary’s sister Katy, and all of their friends. Mary’s mother’s energy and love was felt throughout their entire wedding ceremony and reception. Incorporating a tribute to her mother, a speech by her father, and many of Mary’s mother’s favorite things (her huge fern plants, a blue lantern from her porch, her gold rings, etc.), the presence of Mary’s mother was inspiring.

The theme of the wedding was simple: nautical and neutral. Accents of driftwood, touches of sage green and grey, and little nods to life along the docks connected all of the decor and floral pieces. The driftwood archway was magnificently created by the bride’s father and placed in the sand at the Ocean City inlet (the spot where Will’s boat departs into the ocean on his fishing trips each day).
