The Sweetest Shabby Chic Estate Wedding at Brittland Manor

May 13, 2020
Once upon a time, in 2017, there was the sweetest wedding…and we’re bringing it back for an encore! We’ve haven’t stopped thinking about Carleen and Chris’ beautiful Brittland Manor wedding since it made its MESW debut. From the soft and dreamy color palette to the uber-cute photo booth, this couple did it up the “nines”! We love all the personal details and romantic tones.

Revisiting this shabby chic wedding brought back wonderful, warm memories of a springtime when weddings could be held, not postponed, and gatherings of this size weren’t a second thought. We can’t wait for that to be “normal” again!!

We’re in love with all the natural elements of Carleen and Chris’s oyster-inspired wedding at the Brittland Estates, and couldn’t wait to share it with you! Everything from the enchanting greenery and the darling oyster decor, to the blush bridesmaids’ dresses and the scenic views came together perfectly to create a day that can only be described as simply elegant. Check out all the gorgeousness of this wedding in the gallery from Bekah Kay Creative below…

From Bekah Kay Creative: Carleen & Chris met while working in Ocean City together and got engaged on a sunset cruise in Florida, so it’s only fitting that they got married on the water at Brittland Manor. The venue gave them the opportunity to celebrate for days on end, starting with a crab feast for the rehearsal, and guests all staying at the 500+ acre estate the whole weekend to keep the party going. The bride and groom have this very relaxed and natural love, and the kind of playfulness and friendship you have when know each other so well after being together for half a decade. After sharing an intimate and emotional first look, Carleen surprised the groom and all the guests at the wedding by changing into a second dress before the ceremony which was the perfect fun and flirty compliment to her sweet and romantic first gown.

From East Made Event Company: Our bride was inspired by the colors found inside an oyster shell and the natural gradient from pearly white and neutral to lavender and deep purple as her wedding color inspiration. Oyster culture is pretty prevalent on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in Chestertown, so in addition to this unique color palette, we incorporated actual oyster shells as escort cards, served oyster shooters (with beer chasers!) during the cocktail hour, and the bride hand-crafted a long oyster shell garland to use as the runner on the head table. As a stylist, I was so impressed by Carleen‘s attention to detail and DIY crafting abilities, from the living room wall photo booth to the table numbers to all of the signage. We carried over the “upscale DIY” vibe to the florals as well, focusing on the bouquets and making the bride’s bouquet lush and organic. This was such a fun wedding to be a part of as a vendor because not only were Carleen and Chris invested in their personal details, they were also just the sweetest and most genuine couple.
