EASTERN SHORE TENTS and EVENTS

– Tell Us a Little About Your Background –

Adam was a regional sales rep for Anchor Industries, the leading tent manufacturer in the country. Michele ran her own event planning company, Flawless Events. Adam bought into Eastern Shore Tents and Events in 2012 and purchased the first sailcloth tents for the company. In 2013, Eastern Shore Tents and Events chartered a fishing boat to take some clients fishing and Michele was one of those in attendance. Adam and Michele met on the trip and got married 3 years later, to the day. Michele came to work for EST+E at the end of 2014 and in January of 2020 they bought the company.

We primarily cover the Eastern Shore of Maryland but do travel to Annapolis, Delaware, and other locations within a 3 hour radius, based on what the jobs entails.

– How Do Couples Find You? –

Much of our business comes from referrals and from venues and caterers/planners with whom we’ve partnered. Also, the MyEasternShoreWedding.com website and other online resources.

– What’s The Best Thing About Your Company? –

The best thing about us is that we actually care about every single job. Michele works on a $900 job with the same dedication as a $50,000 one. Amy has been in tears over the fear of possibly letting a client down. And they’re not the only ones. All of our staff care about the quality of our work and exceeding client expectations. We are somewhat self-policing. Meaning, our employees come to work every day to do the job right, otherwise, they won’t make it here. Take a look around- there are 4 guys here who’ve worked here longer than Adam and Michele have. That’s rare in a small company, especially one that engages in such physically demanding work.

–  Can You Give Us an Example of a Problem You Solved for a Client? –

You’d be surprised by how many problems the tent people solve! That’s because we understand all the workings of an outdoor event. Here’s a problem we solved that was our own fault. This goes back  a couple years, but in 2014 or 15  we put up a 60′ wide tent in Easton. At that time, we’d been very busy, 12-15 hour days for weeks. It was getting dark and the tent was up and lit, we realized that one section of the tent was a disaster- mildew, etc.! It doesn’t happen often, but anyone who has been doing tents for a while has put up a tent and been like, “oh no, this is not good!” We didn’t have as large of an inventory as we have now, so we didn’t have a good solution.  Even though Adam and Michele didn’t own the company at the time, they still held themselves completely accountable to the client.  So the next day, after working another 12+ hours, Michele and Adam bought a 28′ extension ladder and some mops and every cleaning product they could find. Adam climbed and Michele held the ladder steady. We cleaned every inch of that tent and about went blind from all the cleaning stuff that dripped into our eyes- but the tent was clean and the client was happy.

Every job matters and it’s important how you handle the bumps in the road.

–  What Should Couples Consider When Looking for a DJ? –

Inventory: You want a company who invests a lot in their inventory. They should be buying new stuff every winter and professionally washing their tent tops in an industrial washing machine. The guys who don’t have a washing machine will tell you it’s fine to not have one- until they have one.

Knowledge and engagement:  It’s one thing to know your stuff.  It’s another to know your stuff and to genuinely be excited and enthusiastic about your clients’ weddings. Michele and Amy (our sales reps) know their stuff and they are thrilled to be an integral part of the planning process. They know everything that goes into a successful outdoor event and are often a valuable resource for the client outside of just the products we offer.

Client experience: Does your rental company answer promptly? Do they have real, solid answers? Do they do what they say they are going to do? And do they manage your expectations properly? So important. With knowledge comes confidence and from confidence comes the ability to answer questions honestly and execute well.

From the first phone call, until the last tent stake goes back into the truck after the wedding, our team is committed to our clients’ experience with us. It’s more than just renting a tent. Clients put a lot of faith in us to do what we say we are going to do and provide a beautiful foundation for their wedding.

“The wedding was everything we hoped it would be!” – Kim, married on 9/28/19

Michele is incredibly thorough and very professional. We made numerous changes throughout the process that she graciously and efficiently accommodated. Her husband even came out to the venue three times to adjust the chandeliers so my daughter’s vision was complete. The tent, lighting, furniture, tableware and accessories were all beautiful. My daughter’s wedding was stunning, and Eastern Shore Tents and Events played a huge part in that. I would use them for another event in a heartbeat. A huge thank you to Michele, her husband and their staff. Everyone we had contact with was pleasant, courteous and professional.

“The BEST Rental Company!!!” – Rosalie, married on 4/21/18

We were referred to them by a family friend in the business because we needed the biggest tent they had for my backyard wedding. We drove a little over 2 hours from the Western shore to meet with Amy. I’m a visual person, so I wanted to see their showroom. Amy showed us so much more and went above and beyond our expectations. I don’t know if it was her hospitable personality, professionalism, or just all around down-to-earth nature; she impressed us! She was knowledgeable about every kind of rental they had, yet organized and level-minded in recommending what we actually needed vs. things we would be wasting our money on. With the help of Amy and the rest of the crew, they transformed my backyard into a beautiful wedding venue, which is more meaningful to me than I can express in words. I loved working with Amy, and would absolutely rent from this company again. Highly recommend!
