If areas can define people, then the Eastern Shore defines all of us. It may sound cliche in a fast-paced modern age to say so, but our love for where we live truly inspires us. The fact that so many couples choose the Eastern Shore as the backdrop of their wedding day, perfectly illustrates how lucky we are to live in a place of such natural beauty and peace. Our website showcases weddings alongside what we love most about the Shore–lush landscapes, kind people, and charming small towns (to name a few!). The ladies of MESW share a commitment to living up to this geographical gift. We want our couples to have the best planning & wedding experience, and work hard to make it easy for you to connect with local creatives who can make your dream day a reality. Looking for a unique place for your engagement photos? Love the idea of a local sweet treat for your reception? Thinking of ways to feature the quintessential Maryland Blue Crab into your menu, but with a twist? These are the things that make us tick, and what we live daily! And as lovers of everything local, we’ve made it our business to make these things available for you to discover.
What’s even better than helping our couples plan their big day? Seeing everything come together, looking out at the lovely landscape and the happy bride and groom, and knowing that they’ve carefully woven their wedding day dreams with the experience of this special place.
Above all, I'm a detail person. I love making lists and get a buzz from crossing things off. But then so does Cara (see below!)--we are alike in that way. You have to understand that I truly believe that the Eastern Shore is a magical place to be married. Really. And couples who've fallen in love with our gorgeous landscapes and vistas deserve to work with the best we have to offer in every way. That's what inspired me to found MESW in 2009, and that's what continues to be my inspiration and guiding principle today. We are unique in that we're rural, and yet still offer some of the best vendors! I know my way around weddings, being a professional photographer for over 20 years, and I can say with authority that you won't find a better wedding vendor community. And those details I spoke of earlier? Whether it's a lovely bouquet, a sweet first dance song, that perfect photograph, or a tasty crab feast--they all make the Eastern Shore wedding experience all the more authentic and special. I love building and nurturing relationships with all the wonderful creatives I meet while doing my job and feel incredibly lucky to call this my life's work!
Cara started at My Eastern Shore Wedding in 2013. As our Art Director, she has become a driving force behind the scenes, creating content and showcasing our community of wedding creatives! An Eastern Shore native and wedding enthusiast, Cara expresses these two passions through her design. Her roots run deep in this sandy soil, and she aims to illustrate a little bit of what she loves about this place she calls home to the couples planning their weddings here. She loves to show off our local vendors, and finds so much joy in connecting a couple with their perfect match.
Like Melissa, the Eastern Shore is Betsy's adoptive home. Even though her heart still has a place for her hometown of Baltimore (Go O's & Ravens!), she calls Easton home. She loves that she can help her clients realize their best business potential by partnering with us and connecting them with Eastern Shore couples. She treasures the personal relationships she has with so many of our vendors, and for her that's what makes MESW unique! What matters most to her? Family, friends, travel, and a job that encourages her at every turn!
Haley began as an intern with My Eastern Shore Wedding in 2011 before joining us full time as a Production Assistant. In 2013, having decided that college was a “must do” for her, she headed south to Savannah, GA to fulfill her dream. We are so lucky that after earning her BFA this year, her Eastern Shore roots called her home! Needless to say, the MESW crew welcomed her back with open arms! As our Community Manager, she brings her creative background and deep loyalty to the Eastern Shore to work every day, ensuring that our preferred vendors receive the highest quality of personal service. A lover of all things wedding, Haley brings unwavering enthusiasm and a fundamental understanding of our mission to our MESW team. What else floats her boat? High-quality fonts and dog kisses!
Caroline started as our intern on the wildest possible week--the week we were launch our new website & rebrand! And boy, were we glad she was here! She jumped right in and did everything we asked of her and more! It only goes to show you that sometimes things happen for a reason. A rising sophomore at St. Mary's College of Maryland, we have decided we just might not let her go back to school...(kidding!) She brings a breath of fresh air to our studio and we love having her boundless energy and the enthusiasm she brings to each thing she does.
Wondering how we came up with our MESW logo? Taking our inspiration from maritime signal flags used to communicate on the water, our flags, (while in the colors of our website), represent the letters “E” and “S”, or Eastern Shore. It’s another way we’re giving a serious nod to our region and it’s nautical traditions!
I just want to say that this site is so beautiful and helpful! I’m looking into getting married in May (with the ceremony at my fiance’s family’s home and the reception at The Tidewater Inn). We haven’t finalized anything yet because planning is so overwhelming, but I’ve gotten so much inspiration from your site. We currently live in Frederick, MD, but my fiancé has spent every summer in Easton sailing and jet skiing the days away. He couldn’t imagine a wedding anywhere else! Thanks a lot!
I’m a new bride-to-be planning my June wedding! I’m currently living in Lexington, KY, but my fiancé and I have decided on an Eastern Shore wedding (my family lives in the DC area). I recently stumbled upon this website and just wanted to say that I couldn’t be happier! Sites like The Knot and WeddingWire have been helpful for initial searches but it’s always a bit more comforting knowing this is a local website! Excited to continue planning now that I’ve found this site! THANK YOU!
The new site looks amazing! I read every email you send. Love your content and all of your inspiration. I found my wedding planner thanks to you guys last year. Keep up the amazing work! I love it!
