The Ugly Pie Brings the Cutest Desserts to the Shore

November 7, 2025

What’s your favorite part of a wedding day? Is it the dessert? We know desserts are certainly the best part of planning the wedding, and usually are a big fan favorite of the day itself. But with the rise and fall of traditional wedding cakes, many couples are looking for dessert options that bring a more personal touch and bigger variety of options to the menu for their big day. The Ugly Pie brings fun and festive sweet treats, with a huge variety of delicious options, to the dessert table with a fun twist on the yummiest details!

Tell us a little bit about The Ugly Pie.
– What made you decide to work in the wedding industry? What is your favorite part about it? –

We started with weddings! Before we had our own brick & mortar, The Ugly Pie was strictly a made-to-order and catering bakery. A lot of our popularity came from word of mouth and people trying our products at weddings.

We love catering to weddings because it gives us an opportunity to bring a couple’s vision to life. We’ve had some interesting requests over the years… a couple once requested a tiered cheesecake – cherry pie. We don’t shy away from a challenge and had so much fun figuring out how to make that work!

– What’s been your favorite wedding trend lately? –

So many couples are wanting to step outside of the traditional cake desserts – pies, cookies, layered dessert shots… that’s where we thrive!

– Are there any trends that you are expecting to see in the upcoming wedding season? –

In the upcoming wedding season, we expect to see more dessert grazing tables, more bite-sized items, and lots of variety. Couples are finally starting to think less about tradition and more about creating an experience that their guests enjoy, and most importantly – is unique to them!

– What do you think is the best thing about the array of options that you can potentially offer a couple? –

At the Ugly Pie, our desserts range from rustic to elegant, so we’re sure to have something to match the look and feel of your big day. Literally everything we offer is crafted by hand, and completely from scratch so you can feel good about what you’re serving to your guests. We have gluten-free and vegan options as well. And don’t sleep on quiche! We have a huge array of savory quiche options that are just perfect for a breakfast or brunch reception.

– What is the most important thing you would like couples to know about your service? –

Most importantly – we don’t do any cake. That being said, if you’re willing to step out of that expectation – we are more than happy to create wedding desserts that are absolutely delicious and truly speak to who you are as a couple.
