The Sweetest Farm Wedding with a Whisky Bottle Tradition

October 21, 2020

Cody and Shannon tied the knot at the sweetest farm wedding at the bride’s childhood home. These two old souls even featured a wedding tradition we’d never heard of–they buried a whisky bottle on the ceremony site to guarantee good weather (and extra fun!) And it worked! Their gorgeous day had it all–from a cute corgi pup, a custom bridal denim jacket, and gorgeous weeping willows to perfectly frame their portraits.  Scroll through this gallery from Erin Wheeler Photography to see how sweet a farm wedding can be!

From Erin of Erin Wheeler Photography: These two sweethearts met in High School where Cody asked Shannon to prom. After graduation they went to separate colleges and stayed together long distance. Shortly after they finished college Shannon moved back home where they slowly started building a life together. First they bought a house and then they adopted a puppy–Mr. Willie Nelson–who, of course, was part of the wedding party. Cody loves music and is a bassist in a local band, Dell Foxx Company. Music was definitely an important part of the wedding day. The couple chose every song for the ceremony & reception. Shannon loves design and crafting and with the help of her family made so many of the decorations and elements surrounding their wedding. The table numbers represented years and told the story of the two of them.

It’s an old tradition to bury a bourbon bottle upside down one month before the wedding at the ceremony spot to ward off bad weather. Right after the ceremony the whole wedding party gathered to dig up the bourbon and yes indeed that bourbon brought this couple the most beautiful weather!
