Spring Wedding on the Wye River

April 2, 2015

We’re so excited to have the pleasure of welcoming Jillian Hughes of Bombs Over Betty Photography into our My Eastern Shore Wedding family! She will soon take her place on the site among our list of talented Eastern Shore wedding vendors. What better way to introduce her to you, sweet brides, than to share one of her incredibly beautiful spring weddings!?

From the bride: “To say this was our dream wedding is an understatement. From the decor, to the food, to the people around us, we couldn’t  have imagined a better day. The ceremony and reception took place in Queenstown at my uncle’s property, The Wye River Estate at Pintail Point. This was a particularly significant venue for us, a place where we have spent many memorable weekends and holidays with our family. To be able to have our wedding at that very same place was incredibly special and is something Chris and I will be able to cherish for years to come.

The whole day took place on the Point. The pictures from Bombs Over Betty Photography captured it all just as we remembered it looking, and most importantly, feeling! From getting ready in the cottage house, to the water’s edge where we said our vows, on to dinner and dancing under the tent, Jillian Hughes and her assistant, Tony Fonash, made sure to capture every special moment of the day. Jill is incredibly talented and practically family, we were very lucky to not only have her there to document but also to celebrate.

We wanted our day to have rustic and natural feel complimented by big bright beautiful florals. Joe Ennd of Joe Ennd Designs picked every one of the flowers used that day and and designed everything from our billowing arch to an effortlessly-gorgeous table display. We were most excited to carry the rustic feel into the menu because we love great food almost as much as we love each other! We were proud to be able to use my father’s catering company for our special day. The farm-to-table inspired menu and “naked” wedding cake were all perfectly executed by Chefs Expressions.

One of my favorite moments, although there were so many, would definitely be the surprise fireworks at the end of the night. The band stopped and asked for everyone to step outside the tent and direct their attention to the big open summer night sky. Before we knew it there was the most wonderful firework display lighting up the sky all along the Wye River. It was indescribable to see all our friends and family gathered together in awe and excitement, arms around each other and enjoying the show. It gave us a moment to stop, look at the love around us and reflect back on the whole celebration. We felt so much love, it was truly the best day ever.”

From Jillian of Bombs Over Betty“This wedding was a very special one for me. I have known Stephanie since she was in high school and watched her grow into an amazing woman. Her family became my second family when I was in college and her older sister became my best friend. I was honored to be able to capture the big day for the two of them.

The wedding took place on the family’s property on Pintail Point. It was a day full of friends and family, and adorned with beautiful colorful flowers. There are three shots that stick out in my mind from the day: first were the images of Stephanie’s bouquet. Wandering around the property I found a seagull nest, and placing her bouquet in the midst of the twigs and branches seemed to fit the surroundings. Next were the images that included their adorable pup, Brewsky! He stole the show during the wedding when he laid down halfway through the ceremony and started chewing on grass. It was such a funny moment and every time I look back through the photos it makes me chuckle. The final shots that stick out in my mind were when Stephanie and Chris finally got to see each other in front of all of their family and friends. The way he looked at her just made your heart melt, and Stephanie’s smile said it all. Their love is one that will continue for their rest of their lives and I am so thankful I was able to capture it! Congratulations again Chris & Stephanie!”
