With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we’ve been buzzing through perfect gift ideas to make our moms feel extra special this Sunday! What better way to show mom how much we love her than a homemade gift she’ll actually use! This year we channeled our craftiness and came up with a fun (and easy!) Mother’s Day DIY–a garden marker bouquet! While we always go a little weak for fresh flowers, this is a fun alternative that’s just as pretty and will last through the season. Choose mom’s favorite herbs, veggies or flowers and get crafting!
- Wooden Spoons
- Acrylic Paints
- Paint Brushes
- Mixing Palette
- Masking Tape
- Clear Varnish Spray
- Seed Packets
- Paint Marker or Calligraphy Pen
- Container & Ribbon
First choose a range of colors for your garden markers! Use the palette to mix your colors. For a clean line, use the masking tape to tape off the top of the spoons, and paint generously. You may need more than one coat depending on your paint and colors. Let the spoons dry for 15-20 minutes before writing the seed names. Follow the directions on the varnish spray to set the paint and writing. Arrange the markers in your container and customize with ribbon and a handwritten tag! Voilà!
Get creative with the packaging! Play around with how to display the arrangement–try a floral vase, terracotta pot, or a mini galvanized pail, and decorate with ribbons, tags or twine! Happy Mother’s Day!
