Heather & Doug’s Fenwick Island Beach Ceremony

October 15, 2015

There’s nothing more important than finding vendors that just “get it”, that seem like the perfect fit to your wedding puzzle! Heather and Doug found just that with their officiants, Ken and Michael from Men In Black! Love and family took center stage in this beautiful Fenwick Island beach ceremony!

From the bride: My husband proposed to me 30,000 feet in the air on our annual winter trip to Florida. Months later as we began preparation for the big day, my father’s health took a turn for the worse and he lost a courageous fight to his five year battle with cancer.  When we were eventually ready to resume planning, we decided that there would be no better place for our ceremony than the fishing beach in Fenwick Island, DE–a spot where we had vacationed year after year with my dad. On our wedding day, I knew that he was smiling down on us as it rained both north and south of us along the coast, yet not a drop fell on our heads as my brother walked me down the isle.

As we stumbled through the process of planning a destination wedding by only relying on the Internet, my mother happened to come across the Men in Black as wedding officiants.  After reading the reviews, we decided to take a chance and book them for the big day. A month before the wedding (once it was too late to turn back) we nervously drove to Delaware to meet the Men in Black for the first time. We left the meeting with huge smiles on our faces as we knew we had made the right choice. The Men in Black kept us laughing and made the process a breeze as they fitted a ceremony to exactly match our personalities and beliefs.

On our wedding day, everything was perfect. We had interviewed a couple photographers, but after seeing Kristen Latham’s work and meeting her face-to-face, we instantly knew she was the right choice. The Men in Black added a couple surprises to the ceremony that kept the crowd laughing (like when during the vows to my new step-children, I promised them both a $10,000 weekly allowance!). After the ceremony and the hundreds of stunning sunset pictures that Kristen took on the beach, we all met at our house for a crab fest. The Men in Black joined us and it was like they were a part of the family!  By the end of the night, I couldn’t have been more thrilled. Every detail turned out better than I had envisioned and I could not be more excited for the many wonderful years ahead with my best friend, my husband!
