Tell us a little bit about your business. What is your favorite thing about designing florals for weddings?
I absolutely love getting to know wedding couples and working with them to select just the right flowers and greenery that captures their vibe and elevates their floral vision. My favorite thing about designing wedding flowers is finding the perfect color combos, interesting textures, and unusual flowers, seedpods, or greenery that will create arrangements that capture attention and turn heads.
Are there any trends that you’re expecting or hoping to see in 2025?
While white weddings will always be a sophisticated and elegant favorite, more and more couples are requesting interesting and unusual color combinations. Couples want to make their weddings unique and are choosing flowers that have deep personal meaning to them and those they love.
As weddings are getting more and more expensive and couples want to get the biggest bang for their dollar. They are eager to explore ways to cut back and identify specific areas for florals that will make the greatest impact and those that might not be as noticeable. They appreciate insights from an experienced floral designer that can anticipate where the floral magic couples will transform the wedding venue.
What do you think is the best thing about the array of options that you can potentially offer a couple?
Of the hundreds of weddings I have designed, not one has been like another. Each wedding reflects the unique vision and style of the couple as they celebrate their marriage. The array of options for creating floral arrangements and designing the décor for weddings is endless. The color combinations, the floral style, whether classic or whimsical, and the types ceremony backdrops and selected table designs are all unique. I love to work with couples to find and express their unique style and personality and translate that into the floral designs.
Can you tell us an example of a problem that you solved for a wedding client?
In all honesty, every wedding presents its own unique challenges and a myriad of unexpected problems. The worst weather scenarios from brutal heat to derecho winds, arches that will not stay upright, elevated arrangements that are knocked over by guests…. The horror stories do not end. The key is to take care of the problems so that the issue is hardly noticed and quickly resolved and the wedding moves forward seamlessly. Problem solving, ingenuity, and flexibility are the hidden characteristics of an exceptional wedding florist.
What would you say are the top 3 things couples should consider when looking for a florist?
Select a floral designer who will:
- Take the time to get to know you, really listen and understand your vision and can take the time to make your vision come to life. For The Garden Studio, that means that I will not take more than one wedding on a given day. I make sure to do a walkthrough with the couple at the wedding site to go over all those little important details so that I can be sure that everything goes seamlessly.
- Identify options to help you stay within your budget and be flexible to adapt to your changing vision, guest count, and specific needs.
- One who has experience doing weddings with lots of different couples and has a good reputation and reviews that demonstrate a positive experience with planning and execution of the wedding flowers from start to finish.
What is the most important thing you would like couples to know about your service?
Designing florals for weddings is my passion and I put my heart and soul into every wedding. Couples consistently say that I went above and beyond what they ever dreamed. I love growing flowers and my vision is to incorporate a garden style approach into my bouquets and arrangements so it looks like every arrangement was just picked from the garden. I honestly love doing wedding flowers and consider it an honor to be part of your special day.
