Tell us a little bit about Meet You at the Altar.
– What made you decide to work in the wedding industry? –
I began my hospitality career at 18, starting in restaurants before moving into hotels and catering. For the past 15 years, I have focused on event and wedding planning, where my organizational skills and attention to detail help turn dreams into reality. Ten years ago, I transitioned into officiating weddings — a role I consider the highlight of every celebration and the most rewarding part of my journey. What drew me to weddings is the joy and meaning behind them. I love being part of such a personal milestone and helping couples create a day that reflects who they truly are. The foundation of my business is inspired by the Yiddish word Bashert, meaning “soulmate,” because I believe that any two people who want to marry should have the chance to celebrate their love.
– What is your favorite part about working in the wedding industry? –
I love getting to know each couple and hearing the story of how they met and made their way to the wedding day. Every story is unique, and weaving those details into the ceremony is what makes each wedding so meaningful.
– What’s been your favorite trend lately? –
Some of my favorites are the thoughtful “extras” couples are adding to their ceremonies, like handfasting — such a sweet and symbolic tradition. I also love blended family weddings that include children, such as a sand ceremony where each person pours a different color, beautifully symbolizing everyone coming together as one.
– What would you say are the top 3 things couples should consider when looking for a wedding vendor? –
1. Make sure you truly gel with the people you hire — a strong personal connection makes a huge difference.
2. Ask as many questions as you need to feel confident and informed about their services.
3. Check references and social media to ensure you like the vendor’s style and approach, and feel comfortable with their work.
– What do you think is the best thing about the array of options that you can potentially offer a couple? –
As a nondenominational officiant, I’m not bound by specific rules or traditions, which means every ceremony can be fully customized. Couples have the freedom to create a celebration that truly reflects their personalities, values, and dreams.
– Can you tell us an example of a problem that you solved for a wedding client? –
Fortunately, I haven’t encountered any major issues, which I attribute to staying proactive and organized. I offer to handle the marriage license—from signing it to ensuring it’s returned to the proper courthouse. I stay in regular contact with the couple throughout the process, including check-ins a couple of weeks before, the week of, and right up to letting them know when I’m on my way. This way, they can focus on enjoying their day without worrying about logistics.
– What is the most important thing you would like couples to know about your service? –
I truly love my job and working with every couple — there’s nothing better than being surrounded by so much love and joy. I want couples to know that if any part of the planning feels overwhelming, it’s okay to step back and consider what could be simplified or delegated. My goal is to make the creation of the ceremony the least stressful part of their wedding, so they can focus on enjoying their special day.
