From Cristina: My inspiration for this shoot came from my experience in planning events on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Over the years, brides have wanted to blend the true essence of the Eastern Shore into their wedding–but what exactly is the “essence” of the Shore? The Eastern Shore is a very special place–full of charm, history, and beautiful waterfront settings. It can host the most discreet clientele for a weekend away from the city, while at the same time serving as home to hardworking farmers and watermen whose livelihoods depend on the bounty of the land and sea.

In designing events, I stay true to styles that evoke a feeling of effortless elegance–keeping the natural setting in mind. In this photo shoot, I chose soft colors that would enhance the beauty of the surroundings. The oyster shells that lined the driveway inspired the shades of grey and pink. Keeping the color palette neutral, it was easy to highlight the featured vendors’ work.

The tables were set with a beautiful shantung cameo-colored linen and placed along the bank of the Tred Avon River. Adirondack chairs lined the beach in the background. I placed a few oyster shells on the table for salt and pepper bowls and used crab place card holders to continue the theme.

The exquisite floral centerpiece from Fleurish displayed soft shades of pink and ivory with a bit of elephant’s ear to tie in the grey of the oyster shells. Sashes were tied around the dark wooden chivari chairs to bring a feminine touch to the table. The same tones were carried through in the model’s makeup and her tulle dress. Together, all of these colors complimented the scenic Tred Avon Yacht Club to bring a true Eastern Shore feel to the day.

For a unique twist, I asked Victor Barlow, owner of the Scottish Highland Creamery, to pop by for a visit. Wearing his traditional Scottish attire, he served his famous homemade ice cream from his cart. Having Victor at your event will not only delight your guests with a delicious dessert, but entertain them as well!

This photo shoot would not have been possible without the incredible talent behind the lens! Jenna Walcott Photography perfectly captured my vision of an effortlessly elegant Eastern Shore event. The true essence of the Eastern Shore of Maryland is found within its people and in the beautiful settings that we call home.

A sweet side note… the models from this session must have really had fun, because that day they got engaged!
