I know I speak for y’all when I say theres nothing better than high school sweethearts turned newlyweds–and Nicole and Jason are no exception! This adorable duo tied the knot after a whole decade of building their life and love together. Have you every seen a happier couple on their wedding day? It’s not hard to see from these photos from Brooke Michelle Photography why these two make the perfect pair!
From Brooke Michelle Photography: Nicole and Jason were such a sweet couple to work with! You would never know they had been together 10 years before tying the knot, because every moment I witnessed them interact it was as if they were in a honeymoon state of mind. The entire day they were beaming and between getting married at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church to a stunning reception at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, their wedding was an Eastern Shore classic!
From the bride : Jason and I met when I was 15 and he was 16. We immediately bonded over our struggle with braces which was a common conversation we would regularly have when we saw each other. Shortly after that we started dating and the rest was history. We graduated high school, went off to separate colleges never putting pressure on the relationship and before we knew it, we were still together, graduated, were living together, moving across the country to Denver to start our new lives without knowing a soul. Although those years through high school and college were not the easiest, some would say those years are designed to break couples apart, we managed. The “spark” just never seemed to fade, no matter how long we went without seeing each other, no matter how different our lives were becoming with school, friends and greek life, or the different hobbies we started to take up. I think that’s because we didn’t think of each other as a “boyfriend” or a “girlfriend” but a best friend that we couldn’t imagine life without so it painted a “bigger picture” for us to focus on. Moving away from all your familiarity poses it’s own struggles, especially when you do it in a month and have only been to the state once… but when you’ve grown up with someone for ten years and experienced some of the hardest times together, it makes these massive life challenges easier because as it turns out my “home” wasn’t Virginia, it was Jason.
No matter how much you prepare, I’ve learned that you will never be ready for your wedding day. I’ve pictured my wedding day with the same man for over ten years. Ten years of fantasizing about my dress, my bridesmaids, my flowers, etc. but the truth is that at the end of the day the only thing that mattered to me was Jason. All the stress from planning, the anticipation of the day, and hoping that everything was going to be “perfect” dissolved the second I saw him on the altar and nothing else mattered. The day was like a fairy tale, something I had dreamed of forever that was finally here! The whole day was blissful, everything I could have asked for and more. The pure happiness from our friends and family that attended was apparent and the weather was beautiful! I couldn’t have asked for a better day to start the rest of our lives together.
