Pinch me, this wedding has us absolutely enamored. Jennifer and Seth run fishing charters out of Ocean City (a.k.a. they’re the raddest couple), and infused so many fun details into their day. Sequins + stripes are 100% our new favorite pairing.
From Ami of Little Miss Lovely: With a theme removing around gold sequins and nautical fish, Jennifer and Seth’s September wedding was fit for a Captain and his First Mate. Together, Seth and Jennifer run fishing charters and sunset cruises on a large boat named the ‘Judith M’. It was only fitting that their wedding have an underlying coastal theme.
September is prime hurricane season in coastal Maryland. The couples’ wedding ceremony took place less than a half hour after a tornado touched down 20 miles south of their venue and a huge waterspout took over the beach in North Ocean City. With gusting winds, a torrential downpour and 160 guests hanging out on the covered porch of the Sunset Room, the ceremony went on. And it couldn’t have been more perfect!
The bridal party portraits took place in West Ocean City at Sunset Marina, the largest commercial fishing marina on the East Coast. Jennifer’s bridesmaids wore gowns of gold sequins and carried rounded bouquets of garden roses, zinnias, and pincushion flowers. Long navy and white striped ribbon hung from each bouquet and gold anchor charms added some bling to the bouquets. Jennifer’s bridal bouquet was larger, more whimsical and featured a large succulent (a keepsake she could plant in her garden after the wedding).
More than 100 feet of fresh garland was used to decorate the deck on which cocktail hour took place, hand-made chalkboard signs that directed guests to the ceremony location, the ceremony backdrop, the sweetheart table, and the Chinese lanterns hung above the dance floor.
Classically nautical black lanterns were used as centerpieces on each guest table during the reception. The bride and her mother sourced these lanterns from India and the groom and one of his friends created wooden stands to elevate the lanterns. Half of the centerpieces had fresh flowers cascading out of them, the other half had candles burning inside. Loose floral heads, Spanish moss from North Carolina, rose petals, and succulents surrounded each lantern.
