Do you ever come across a wedding gallery that just makes you want to jump in, to join the party and celebrate the night away with Mr & Mrs? This is one of those. At the very tip of Tilghman Island where the Choptank River meets the Chesapeake Bay, these two tied the knot surrounded by acres of gardens, endless native wildlife, and THE raddest wedding party ever. Colorful rompers, the sweetest first look, and a reception piñata makes this Black Walnut Point Inn Wedding one for the books.
From Abbey Moore Photography: I remember exactly where I was when I officially booked Rachel and Adam’s wedding–I was on a walk with my dog at a local college and couldn’t believe my luck. Rachel and I had been internet friends for about a year after I discovered her incredible macrame skills. I quickly purchased her goods and featured her in an online newsletter, as I have a soft place for bad-ass female entrepreneurs. This was one of my first out-of-state weddings to photograph and I really felt like Rachel took a chance on me, and that meant the world. These are a few of my favorite memories from that day:
1. The look of pure joy and ecstasy as Rachel’s bridesmaids zipped her into her dress. At almost every wedding a zipper becomes a real struggle. Getting into the dress is not usually a moment of relaxation, it’s high stress and a little bit anxiety. When the zipper made it to the top Rachel screamed and immediately everyone started crying. There’s even a photo where she fist pumps into the air. It was awesome.
2. The moment Adam saw Rachel. If there is any couple who is meant for each other, it’s these two. Right after their first look Adam told me, “We were married as soon as we started dating.” How perfect is that? (And also very reminiscent of the Jim/Pam Wedding on The Office).
3. Another incredible moment was when Rachel saw her bridesmaids for the first time in their full get-up. Her girls wore sassy colorful rompers with open backs and looked SO much cooler than your average bridesmaid. She screamed, “my bitches be hot!” and she couldn’t have been more accurate. They looked amazing and added so much life, joy and color to the day.
4. Lastly, the most memorable thing about the day for me was the way that her family and friends treated me. It’s so common at a wedding to just be treated as a vendor, which is totally fine–that’s what I am. But when you get those special days where you’re treated like a friend makes it all worth it. I felt so close to her family and friends which allowed me to get pictures that really represented who they are authentically.
Oh–and did I mention at the end of the day they smashed a pinata to pieces in front of all their guests? It was epic. The whole day was epic, and I am so happy to be the one who got to photograph it.
