Tell us a little bit about Alison to the Altar.
– What made you decide to become an event coordinator? –

I started out as an officiant and quickly saw the need for other services on the Shore. This led to ceremony set ups, décor, florals, planning & design, as well as coordination. As the years have gone by I have fine tuned the process for our brides who have come from out of town to provide various components of a wedding day all from one vendor service.

– What is your favorite thing about coordinating weddings? –

Seeing all the hard work come together in the final result, and the couple having the dream-day they envisioned when we first spoke!

– What’s been your favorite trend lately? –

I love a well set table, with beautiful table details (chargers, glassware, nice linens), as well as incorporating things that are meaningful to the couple and their story.

– Are there any trends that you are expecting to see in the 2025 wedding season? –

Our clients for next season are still looking for shades of blue so I expect hues of blues be a continuing trend, especially on the Shore.

– What would you say are the most important things couples should consider when looking for a wedding coordinator/planner? –

Keep an open mind! Look for someone with experience and knowledge, continuing education is also important. And find someone who cares about helping create your dream-day!

– Can you tell us an example of a problem that you solved for a wedding client? –

I had a client who came to me on a Thursday after their wedding in Charleston was cancelled due to a hurricane. They had been evacuated. Her mother lived locally, so I sent them to get their marriage license first thing in the morning. I was able to pull in a few favors to get their vendors lined up and come up with a plan to let the guests know where & when the wedding was moved to. The wedding went off on their original date and most of the guests were able to drive to location for the wedding! Already having strong relationships with other vendors made it possible to draw on them to help pull off this day.

– What do you think is the best thing about the array of options that you can potentially offer a couple? –

I can give them the opportunity to work with one vendor to secure everything they need or want. It simplifies the planning process to use a one-stop-shop for things like florals, rentals, and coordination.

– What is the most important thing you would like couples to know about your service? –

Every client is treated like family. I take their wedding day personally and treat it as if they were a family member of my own.
