A Wedding Weekend at Harbourtowne

April 22, 2015

We just can’t get enough of Katie & Jeff’s nautical Harbourtowne nuptials! From the anchor-adorned bridesmaid dresses to the bayside dance floor, these two planned a perfect celebration, and Harbourtowne was the perfect place to host it.

What made you choose to get married in St. Michaels and at Harbourtowne? We started considering the St Michaels area because my parents live about an hour away on the Eastern Shore. Since most of our friends and family were traveling quite a distance to come to our wedding, we wanted them to feel like they were on vacation for the weekend–I know they felt that way in St. Michaels! We love the shops and restaurants on Talbot Street as well as the gorgeous waterfront.

There were so many things that we loved about Harbourtowne. We wanted to be able to really spend the weekend with our guests. Most of us stayed at Harbourtowne and many of our activities were on-site (pre-wedding corn hole tournament, reception, after party, brunch). This was so convenient and meant that we got to see a lot of our friends and family which we loved. From a venue perspective, we were looking for alternatives to tent and ballroom weddings; the Bayview restaurant and outdoor dance floor were a great fit for us.

How many times were you able to visit the site and talk to the planner before the wedding day? I think I only visited a few times prior to the wedding because I was living 5 hours away at the time. However, I think my mom stopped by every month or two to answer questions regarding overall layout, table size, etc.

Was the wedding staff easy to work with? Did the resort go out of its way to make you feel special? Yes! They were very easy to work with. They did a great job setting up and taking down all the crazy decorations that we had brought–including two giant nautical life preservers!

How were the food and accommodations at the resort? We had 97 guests and nearly everyone stayed at the resort. The accommodations were super convenient to our events and had beautiful water views. The food was excellent–loved the pecan crusted tilapia. People really had great things to say about the food!

The Wedding Cake came from Bay Country Bakery in Cambridge not Julie Bakes. It was delicious. They also captured the bride’s quirky request for a Bride and Groom Starfish topper.

A great weekend was had by all at Katie and Jeff’s Harbourtowne wedding.
