An Indian Inspired Bridal Luncheon

The Eastern Shore traditionally evokes thoughts of crab cakes and oysters on the half shell, and there’s no doubt that local caterers have perfected these familiar favorites. But when a family decides to think outside the box and honor a bride’s Indian heritage, Laura Dennis of Peachblossoms Catering is happy to switch things up! She brought this unique vision to life with a stunning display of flavors, colors and textures that is nothing short of impressive!

From Laura of Peachblossoms Catering & Events: We’ve so enjoyed working with Susan Friedel on past events that we were thrilled she wanted our help with the planning of a bridal shower for her future daughter-in-law. The party was to be at their lovely home in Trappe. She and her daughter, Laura, have great style and vision, so I couldn’t wait to see how the party would come together.

Susan and Laura wanted to bring Indian colors and flavors to the luncheon in honor of Shalini, the bride-to-be, so we researched Indian dishes and the bride’s family shared some of her favorites recipes from home.

As someone who prepares A LOT of food, it was rewarding to work with a different palette of flavors! It reminded me of why I love what I do. We made two outstanding chutneys—carrot and cashew—from Shalini’s mother’s own recipes, that we now keep on hand at home. The dishes were spicy and bright and the buffet was beautiful and delicious. Bridal showers should be intimate and personal, families and good friends establishing bonds that will last a lifetime. We were delighted to be part of such a lovely, happy afternoon—a wonderful start for these two families!
