April 17, 2013

We know how important choosing the right rings is for you! With the help from our favorite Eastern Shore jewelry store, Shearer the Jeweler, we’ve come up with some great tips to help you do just that.

First, a little background: whether you’re an Eastern Shore bride or if you’re just stopping around town looking for a venue for your dream wedding, a stop at Shearer’s is a great idea. If you can dream it, Shearer’s can make it happen. Be sure and give Tucker, their shop dog, a pat while you’re there!

Here are some tips for buying your rings- bands or engagement:

  1. Decide on a budget that you both agree on.
  2. Figure out your timeline- when choosing a wedding band, we suggest you
start looking early – maybe 2 or 3 months before the wedding date. For
    custom designs, allow extra time.
  3. Figure out what you want in wedding bands before you head out to shop.
Consider metals, if you want matching bands, various styles.
  4. For engagement rings, get educated about the 4 Cs– cut, color, clarity and
carat. {Did you know the the word “carat” starts with a “c” when referring to
    diamonds but with a “k” when referring to gold?}
  5. Research styles- are you a traditionalist or are you looking for something
    vintage, or perhaps something “one-of-a-kind”?
  6. Consider your lifestyle, too- thinking about that may help you decide if the
style ring you love will “fit” with your activities, that is, will it be catching on
clothing, etc. when you’re exercising, etc.
  7. Do you like personal service, someone who can advise and help you
through the ring-buying experience? If so, you’d be better off at a brick
and mortar jewelry store and avoiding online shopping.

Remember, you and your fiancé will be wearing these rings everyday for the rest of your lives. Take your time and choose the one that makes you happy, comfortable and feels right and that you LOVE. No one else can make that decision for you, so choose wisely!!
