2015 Wedding Trends

January 29, 2015

Every year we anxiously await to hear what trends are on the horizon for the upcoming wedding season! Once again we asked Kari Rider from Kari Rider Events to fill us in on the latest and greatest of all things wedding. Here’s what she had to tell us:

Copper Madness
Copper is going to make a surprising appearance as couples look to add a warm pop of color to their wedding decor. Copper was very popular this past holiday and some rental companies are even offering copper chairs for guests. This is a trend we have not seen in a long time and it works with every style of wedding from casual barn to upscale loft.

One Course Dinner
Beef up the cocktail hour with more hors d’oeuvres and skip the salad. Couples are skipping the first course and just going for a really good main entrée to save on costs. It also helps keep the energy of the night moving as guests are not sitting in their seats as long. This allows everyone to enjoy the band or DJ earlier and gets guests dancing.

Small Wedding Cakes
Couples are forgoing the large multi-tiered wedding cake and opting for a small wedding cake just for the ritual of the cake cutting. Along with the small wedding cake they are serving an assortment of desserts. Think gourmet ice cream carts, a childhood favorite dessert or assorted Smith Island Cakes local to the Eastern Shore.

Modern Minimalism Wedding Dresses
Bling will always have a special place in our hearts but some of this season’s most inspiring looks are tailored with clean lines. They reminded us of Caroline Bessette’s aisle style. This Americana aesthetic is ideal for the bride who wants to be comfortable yet chic on her wedding day.

Garland for Days
Brides can’t get enough garland! From tables, to bars, to chair swags–even chandeliers, garlands are everywhere! Greenery such as magnolia leaf, eucalyptus, lemon leaf and maidenhair fern are strung together to create these lovely accents.
